Innovative sensor solutions from Schaeffler as key drivers of efficiency and longevity in industrial applications Expanded sensor portfolio covering all aspects of motion Product highlights: TorqueSense torque sensor, hydrogen sensors, and intelligent control unit Zone Controller At this year’s Hannover Messe, Motion Technology Company Schaeffler will unveil innovative sensor solutions for industrial applications. These advanced sensors play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and service life of machinery and vehicles. Following its successful merger with Vitesco Technologies in October 2024, Schaeffler is presenting its expanded portfolio in Germany for the first time, featuring eight distinct product families. With this broadened offering, the company now provides cutting-edge sensor solutions covering all aspects of motion. The key product highlights at this year’s Hannover Messe include the TorqueSense torque sensor, hydrogen application sensors, and the compact Zone Controller for intelligent system management. “Schaeffler represents innovation across the entire motion spectrum,” says Uwe Wagner, Chief Technology Officer at Schaeffler AG. “Innovative sensors are essential not only for mobility but also for future-oriented technologies like robotics and humanoid robots. They enable precise movement control and optimization. With our extensive system expertise, Schaeffler delivers genuine added value to customers and supports the industrialization of these key technologies.” TorqueSense: For optimized machine and vehicle performance Schaeffler’s extensive product portfolio includes a wide variety of innovative sensors and intelligent electronic control devices, designed to control, regulate, and optimize performance and efficiency across various systems. At Hall 5, Booth D18, Schaeffler will showcase TorqueSense, a high-resolution, highly linear torque sensor designed for precise torque measurement in industrial drivetrain systems. TorqueSense enhances the performance of control systems while reducing energy consumption, making it ideal for applications such as work process control in construction and agricultural machinery. Additionally, it enables industrial machines to be equipped with overload protection, offers easy integration into customer applications, and significantly increases machine service life. Hydrogen: Innovative sensor technology for enhanced safety Schaeffler will also present innovative hydrogen sensors, designed to enhance safety in vehicles and industrial applications that use hydrogen as an energy source. These sensors deliver exceptional measurement accuracy, providing real-time safety insights. The H2 sensor “Leakage” detects hydrogen leaks in real time, while the H2 sensor “Exhaust” measures hydrogen concentration in the fuel cell exhaust system. As a result, both sensors play a pivotal role in supporting system diagnostics and minimizing potential risks in the drivetrain system. All of Schaeffler’s sensors feature a robust design for a long service life. Recognizing hydrogen’s potential as a future mobility solution, Schaeffler is actively contributing to the sustainable adoption of hydrogen technology through innovative sensor solutions. Zone Controller as a direct interface to local sensors Modern vehicles rely on fast and reliable data processing and communication between sensors. To meet this demand, Schaeffler is introducing the Zone Controller at Hannover Messe. This control unit centralizes the connection, control, and power supply requirements for all control devices, sensors, and actuators within a vehicle zone. As a key interface, the Zone Controller ensures seamless data transfer between local networks, enables intelligent power distribution, and offers flexibility and scalability for future system enhancements. By precisely managing power distribution and data transmission, the Zone Controller helps optimize the performance of electric drives, contributing to overall vehicle efficiency improvements, such as reduced weight and minimized latency. Schaeffler at Hannover Messe Schaeffler’s innovative sensor solutions and future mobility technologies will be on display at Hannover Messe from March 31 to April 4, 2025 at Hall 5, Booth D18. Additionally, Schaeffler will showcase hydrogen solutions at Hall 13, Booth E41/1, focusing specifically on hydrogen production and utilization.
